Feedback window

The Feedback window sends a message straight to the Prism team: a problem, an idea, a question, or something you like. We read every message.

The Feedback window.
#NameDescription
1 What's on your mind? Your message. For a problem, say what you did and what you expected. While the message is short, a hint asks for a sentence or two of context; it never stops you from sending.
2 Reply to The address we reply to. Leave it empty and we reply to your license's address, or cannot reply when there is none. We only use it to reply to you.
3 Remember Fills in the address the next time you send feedback. On by default.
4 Attachments What is attached, with the total size and how much more fits. See Attachments.
5 What gets sent Expand it to see everything that is sent. See What gets sent.
6 feedback@stati-cal.com Opens a new email to us, if you prefer to write from your mail program.
7 Send Sends the feedback (Ctrl+Enter). Prism then says Thanks for your feedback.
8 Cancel Closes the window without sending. Esc does the same.

Send feedback

  1. Select Help › Feedback….
  2. Type your message in What's on your mind?
  3. Check Reply to, and attach a screenshot or file if it helps.
  4. Select Send, or press Ctrl+Enter. The window closes and Prism says Feedback sent: "Thanks for your feedback."

If the feedback cannot be sent, Prism says Couldn't send your feedback. and keeps your text. Select Try again, or Save as e-mail… to save it as an .eml file that you send yourself.

  2. The window closes and Prism says Feedback saved: "Open <file> in your mail client and send it to feedback@stati-cal.com."
  3. Open the file in your mail client and send it.

If the file cannot be written, the window says Couldn't save with the file name and the reason, and stays open.

  • Prism log, last 500 KB and diagnostics.json are attached by default. Each chip has a button that opens the file, so you see exactly what is sent. After you remove one, Add log or Add diagnostics attaches it again.
  • Paste screenshot attaches the image on the clipboard; take a screenshot with Win+Shift+S first. Ctrl+V also pastes it when the clipboard holds only an image.
  • Attach file… attaches one file; attaching another replaces it. You can also drop a file on the window.

When the attachments are too large to send, Prism says so; remove one to make room.

What gets sent

  • The product and version, the Windows and .NET versions, your license, and the window you opened the Feedback window from.
  • A summary of the open object stores and the last error.
  • diagnostics.json, if attached: workspace details, the last error and its stack trace, a failed object store load and the settings you have changed.
  • A machine ID, which identifies this installation.
  • Your message, reply address and attachments.

Error window

The Error window with its details expanded.
#NameDescription
1DetailsThe stack trace.
2OKCloses the window.

When something unexpected goes wrong, Prism shows an Error window with the error message. Expand Details to see the stack trace, and select OK to close the window. To report the error, select Help › Feedback…: the last error is included in what gets sent, so you only need to say what you were doing.
