Object index

The object index lists every object in the store, grouped by object type, under the heading Objects. Use it to find an object by name or id, to narrow the store to some types, ranges or kinds of object, and to open an object in the Object view.

Opening it

  • It is the left panel of the Objects page.
  • When it is hidden, choose View › Show › Objects, or double-click the splitter at the left edge of the object view.
  • Press Ctrl+Shift+E to let it fill the page; see Expanded object index.

2Showing X of YHow many objects the search and filter leave. See Filter status.
3Clear filterResets the filter. The search stays.
4Matching objectAn object whose name or id matches.

The search box matches object names and ids and narrows the tree as you type. The same syntax works in the Outline, in the filter box of the Dependencies tab and in the Object Errors window.

You typeMatches
18The object with id 18.
18..20Ids 18 to 20, both included.
50000.. or ..99Ids from 50000, or up to 99.
customerNames containing customer, in any case.
sales*lineNames containing sales followed later by line. * stands for any run of characters.
cust?merNames with any one character in place of the ?.
sales lineNames containing sales, then later a space, then later line.
18..20|22 or 18|*Customer| means or: objects matching any of the parts.

A number matches the id only; any other text matches the name. Two dots alone (..) match nothing.

Filter popup

Select Filter in the panel's toolbar, or the Showing X of Y line, to open the popup. Your choices apply as you select them.

Filter status

  3. Optionally type a search, such as 50000.., to narrow the list.
  4. Press Enter on an object to open it.
