Field Transfer Mappings window

Target.TRANSFERFIELDS(Source) copies fields by field number. The Field Transfer Mappings window shows how the fields of two tables pair up, and flags types that do not match and fields that cannot take part.

Opening Field Transfer Mappings

  1. Right-click the target table in the Object index or its heading in the Object view, and choose Show TransferFields Mapping From…. In Universal Search, the same command is among the table's actions (Tab).
  2. In Select source table, pick the source table.

The table you right-clicked is the target; the table you pick is the source. For Show TransferFields Mapping From…, your license must include Explore Table Relations.

From code: on the Prism tab of the Object view, right-click a TRANSFERFIELDS call and choose Show inter-table field mappings. The window opens at once, with the record's table as the target and the table of the argument as the source.

Mapping filter

The mapping filter, open.

The mapping filter lists only the choices that have at least one row.

#FilterLists
1AllEvery field number in either table.
2MappedField numbers in both tables that transfer.
3› Type MatchOf those, the ones whose types match.
4› Type MismatchOf those, the ones whose types do not match.
5Mapped (Disqualified)Field numbers in both tables that do not transfer.
6› Flow Field ClassOf those, the ones that are FlowFields.
7UnmappedField numbers in one table only.

The list offers only the filters that match some field of the two tables. One more appears under Mapped (Disqualified) when a field has ObsoleteState Removed in either table: › Obsolete Removed.

For Flow Field Class, Obsolete Removed and Unmapped, the field selector chooses whether the source field, the target field, both or either must qualify. It offers only the choices that apply and is disabled when Any is the only one.

Check a TRANSFERFIELDS between two tables

Use this before you add a field to a table that is copied with TRANSFERFIELDS, such as a document line and its posted line.

  1. Right-click the target table, such as table 113 Sales Invoice Line, and choose Show TransferFields Mapping From….
  2. Pick the source table, such as table 37 Sales Line.
  3. Choose › Type Mismatch in the mapping filter and hover each icon to read the mismatch.
  4. Choose Unmapped to see the fields that exist on one side only, and give a new field the same number on both sides if it should transfer.

Behavior

  • By number: fields pair up by field number only; names do not matter.
