Home page

The Home page of the Control Panel is where you open an object store, reopen a recent one, and check your version and license.

Opening it

  • Start Prism for C/AL; the main window opens on the Home page.
  • Select Home in the rail of the main window.

2VersionYour installed version and whether an update is available. See Version.
3LicenseThe installed license and its status. See License.
4RecentThe object stores you opened recently, with a search box. See Recent object stores.

Once you choose a file, folder or mirror, the object store opens in a Workspace window; see Opening an object store. While a mirror synchronizes, a card above the recent list shows its progress.

Open buttons

The four buttons at the top of the page each open one kind of object store.

#NameDescription
1 Open file… Opens a single object text file exported from Dynamics NAV as a file store.
2 Open mirror… Opens one of your mirrors of a NAV database in the Open Database Mirror dialog. While no mirror is defined, it shows the Mirrors page instead, so you can create one.
3 Open folder… Opens a folder of object text files as a directory store: one object per .txt file, in any folder structure, subfolders included. The Unstructured Directory Store settings decide which files and folders Prism reads.
4 Open Prism folder… Opens a folder in Prism's own layout as a directory store: one subfolder per object type and one file per object, named by its ID, such as table\18.txt and codeunit\1.txt. A folder in the ReVision layout opens from File › Open › Object Text Directory (ReVision Structure)… in the File menu.

2Group headingCollapses or expands the group.
3Recent storeOpens the store. Shows its kind, name, objects and errors, when you opened it, and its path.
4Context menuCommands for the row, listed below.

The recent list is grouped by when you last opened each store: Today, Yesterday, Past week, Past month and Older. Select a group heading to collapse or expand it. Each row shows the kind of store as an icon, its name, the number of objects and errors (red when there are errors), when you opened it, and its path.

  • Select a row to open the store. If it is already open, Prism switches to its workspace window.
  • Press Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 to open the first to ninth store; the row's tooltip shows its key.
  • Hover a row to see its details: kind, path, and when it was opened, modified and created. For a mirror, the tooltip shows its server, database, service tier and whether synchronization is on.

Right-click a row for these commands:

A store that has been moved or deleted stays in the list, with a badge on its icon. When you open it, Prism says Object store no longer exists and removes it from the list once you close the message. A mirror that is no longer defined on the Mirrors page is handled the same way.

With an empty list, the page shows No recent stores yet and an Open a file store… button.
