Explore Table Relations window

The Explore table relations window draws the table relations around a table as a graph. Each card is a table, and each arrow stands for one or more table relations from one table to another. Use it to see how a table fits into the data model and to find the code that defines a relation.

Opening Explore Table Relations

  • Right-click a table in the Object index, or its heading in the Object view, and choose Explore Table Relations.
  • In Universal Search, select the table, press Tab and choose Explore Table Relations.

Your license must include Explore Table Relations. The window opens with that table highlighted and its relations explored in both directions.

Find the code behind a table relation

Use this to see which fields relate two tables and how the relation is written.

  1. Right-click the arrow between the two tables and choose Show details….
  2. In the Usages window, select a row to go to the TableRelation definition in the workspace window.

Keep the graph readable

Tables that relate to almost everything, such as dimension or number series tables, crowd the graph.

  1. Select Objects to open the panel.
  2. On the Included tab, select the tables you do not need, right-click and choose Exclude objects…. To keep only a few, select those and choose Exclude unselected objects… instead.
  3. Explore further from the tables that remain; excluded tables stay out until you include them again from the Excluded tab.

Save the graph as an image

  1. Wait until the status reads Done.
  2. Select Save graph to PNG file and choose a file name in Save graph to image file.

File Explorer opens with the saved image selected.
